Available in ChatGPT and Claude

Ask ChatGPT What Service Your Bike Needs

Trail Hits™ is an approved plugin in ChatGPT. Connect it and your assistant can see your real bikes, your ride history, and how worn each component actually is, then tell you what is due and walk you through the job. Claude works too, as a custom connector.

Read-only unless you turn on actions. Sign in with a 6-digit email code, the same as the app. There is no password to create.

Your Assistant Stops Guessing

A general answer about chain wear is worth very little. An answer about your chain, on your bike, after your last 40 rides, is worth a lot.

What is actually due

Ask what needs attention and your assistant reads the strain-based wear on your drivetrain, brakes, suspension, tires, and bearings, weighted by how hard you have been riding rather than raw mileage.

Then how to do it

Once it knows the part and the bike, your assistant walks you through the job with its own mechanical knowledge. Ask it follow-ups mid-repair, in your own words, with the bike in front of you.

Your history and your shop

It can pull your service history, the estimates your shop has sent you, and where your bike currently sits if your shop runs Trail Hits™ Hub.

How to Connect It

Two minutes, and the same sign-in you already use.

ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, open Plugins and search for Trail Hits, or go straight to the Trail Hits: Bicycle Maintenance plugin page.
  2. Choose Install plugin.
  3. Sign in with your Trail Hits™ email address.
  4. Enter the 6-digit code we email you.
  5. Leave the actions box unticked to stay read-only, or tick it to let your assistant act.

Claude

  1. Go to Settings, then Connectors.
  2. Choose to add a custom connector.
  3. Paste https://mcp.trailhits.com/mcp
  4. Sign in with your email and the 6-digit code.
  5. Same actions box, same choice.

Any assistant that supports MCP connectors works with that same URL. You need a Trail Hits™ account first, because signing in is how it finds your bikes.

What This Does Not Do

Worth being specific about, because you are connecting an assistant to your own data.

We do not run the AI

There is no Trail Hits™ model in the middle. Your assistant does the reasoning and we hand it your data. Nothing you ask it passes through a model of ours.

It only ever sees your own data

Every request is scoped to your account by the database itself, using a short-lived token issued for you at the moment of the request. Shop tools additionally require that you actually work at that shop.

It cannot write unless you say so

Read-only is the default and read-only connectors never receive write permission. Turning actions on unlocks a short, specific list, and you can disconnect from your assistant's settings whenever you want.

Common Questions

Can ChatGPT tell me what service my bike needs?

On its own it can only give you general advice, because it has no idea what you ride or how hard you ride it. Connect the Trail Hits™ app and that changes: your assistant can read your actual bikes, your ride history, and the strain-based wear on each component, so it can tell you what is due on your bike specifically and then walk you through the job step by step using its own mechanical knowledge.

How do I connect Trail Hits™ to ChatGPT or Claude?

In ChatGPT, open Plugins, search for Trail Hits: Bicycle Maintenance, and choose Install plugin. In Claude, go to Settings, then Connectors, add a custom connector, and paste https://mcp.trailhits.com/mcp. Either way you sign in the same way you sign in to Trail Hits™, with your email address and the 6-digit code we send you. There is no password to create. Any assistant that supports MCP connectors works with the same URL.

Can my AI assistant change things in my Trail Hits™ account?

Only if you let it. The connection is read-only by default. When you sign in there is a separate box for actions, and unless you tick it your assistant gets no ability to write anything at all. If you do turn actions on, it is a short list: approving or declining one of your own estimates, marking a component you serviced, dismissing a duplicate ride, and for shop staff, adding an internal note to a work order. You can disconnect the app from your assistant's settings at any time.
